Would larger split, approx 10"x6"x6" logs be more suitable for woodburning stoves? Was thinking maybe the BMW, Audi brigade might go for them if they were told these are the "proper" logs for stoves !

All depends on the size of the stove, if they dont go in , then there no good to them.

Large logs tend to be for large open fires. It is more of a problem getting logs small enough to fit the 4kw yuppie stoves.

Ahh yes i'm with you, i'm sort of getting carried away here with my 2 door 12kw ( chinese ) model :001_smile: Must scour ebay to see the width of the smaller, yuppie models.

Very sorry gentsteve about posting earlier on general chat about the "revelation" i discovered about starting the stove with the now redundant Christmas tree, no need for paper, firelighters or KINDLING! Promise i won't mention it again.

that size would not go in my woodburner to big mine are 6" long between 4" and 9" dia depending on size of ring split in half or 4 go in nice and burn well. mine is a 4kva stove and british made that size be ok as other post for a big open fire. go to a woodburning stove shop and see what size they use. then you know that majority of woodburners will use that size

Used to cut my logs to fit the stove, learnt a lot since then and now cut them a lot smaller to get lots of air round them, find i get a lot more heat out of them that way :001_smile:
