PA1 - PA6 Certificate

hello all, im a Green Keeper and im looking to do my PA1 and PA6, but i would i would like some information from people who have had the the training and the test,do i have to revise online or do you get tought all of it on the Training?

Its usually a 2 day course with a seperate asesment or a an assesment at the end of the second day. Worth doing and i think doesn't have to be renewed....

I would do the training cause the whole calibration can be hard to get your head round and you get the practice in, also you get a good knowledge with the training also if your doing pa6 I would ask for the pa6aw it's a few extra questions but means that you can spray by water and it's no extra cost, best of luck

i have look my one of my local college websites, it says its a one day training then the test date will be organized a different date from the training. is there anything i would have to revise before i go on the training or do you learn it all there? do you get given any books ect after the training for revise on for the test?

You should get taught it all on the training course including familiarisation on the computer for the gola test for the pa1 part. I,m a nptc assessor for the pa units and I find the biggest source of error on the calibration is people miss reading the measuring jug or putting the decimal point in the wrong place. Very often they,re rushing it and it,s nerves, but there is plenty of time. Take it steady, stay calm and slowly work thru it. Get your trainer to give you plenty of practice calibration sheets so you can work thru more examples in your own time.

Pa1 is a days course learning all about different chemicals, how to read labels. what a certain say herbacide will do with its active ingrediant. then next day you do a exam. with mine we did the course. did a mock exam the next morning then took the test. closed book on a pc with multilpe choice qestions. and pass rate is 80% you can only get one qestion in each part 4 parts wrong more than one in one of the parts and its a fail.

Pa6 day course learning to calibrate sprayer working out how much you ned to spray a square area. yo then walk 100mtrs spraying whilst someone times you then 100mtrs back being timed then you take the two times and get the average. you can then work out how much water you need and chemical. you then spray a course with all the gear PPE rubber boots,face mask and nitral gloves. need these to do course. and sprayer. you have to have worked it out to be able to spray without having any left over or run out before you finish the area.

next day do the exam 2 hours plus. make sure you do it by the book and it will be the same as the course. and swat up on your nozzles they will ask you what different nozzles do and what spray the spray course,medium,fine make sure you keep pumping the sprayer. my mistake first time he let me do it again and it worked. as other posts get your water part aswell not much call for it ut you have it. need to do a refresher every 3 years. find a course that you can do it all in 4 days they are out there colleges a bit wooly on this forget need to earn a living so taken 3 days out of work is better than messing about

ok thank you guys, i see you said you need to do a Refresh every 3 years on PA6... Do you have to take your PA1 again after passing it?

If I'm right pa1 is just your competence with the sprayer and handling of chemicals making sure that you wash it out properly I think if you do a refresher it should be included as it's important

yes i understand that rooster74 but dose everyone have to take a re-test in the PA1?
