Has anyone got experience of the Investors in People programme?

When I first came across IiP it was a pain and a paperchase, with no real benefits as far as I could see. I'm told it has changed significantly and works as a tool to help businesses develop. The few businesses I have spoken to recently, who have gone through the process speak positively about it but is there anyone out there who can speak from an arb point of view?

Sorry not from an Arb viewpoint but I was heavily involved in IIP a few years ago in local government. IMO very bureaucratic with not a great deal coming out of it. Also once you're into it you're on the treadmill -who wants to be the employer who pulled out of IIP?

I was a senior manager and middle management and staff thought it was a pain. Could have improved I suppose.....

IIP was used when I was working for the local council and I found it very hypicritical,,considering the actual name "Investing in People" but they expected a qualifield ranger to living in the rich thames valley for £13,000,,, rent was £500 a month back then!!! bureaucratic beyond belief!!!save your money,,and spend it on your staff!(sorry gets my back up)

I have no managerial experience whatsoever, but a few years ago a few of companies I came across with this badge, used and abused staff, as in to get the maximum out of them for minimum wages, contracts that expired just as the staff were about to be entitled to holiday pay etc.

Hopefully they have sorted this out and it has moved on. weeding out such things.

Another massive load of tosh, along with CHAS, SAFEcontractor, constructionline, ISO9001 etc etc etc.

I could go on but I'd get cross.

What we all need to do is collectively stand against job creation administration schemes like these....

Watched it in the forces. Tosh, paperwork mare. Grabbed by the promotion seekers as a "good idea" to push temselves up the ladder. Eventually died a death and the plaque was taken down.

If you can't manage a company without involving this stuff then find another job.

Exactly right. Common sense filed in triplicate is not common sense at all. As you say, you either got it or you ain't, and no crappy little plastic sign in reception can change that! IIP was seized in my LA's, quangos and other top heavy organisations, but I have yet to see an example of IIP status causing growth.

I'm (against my will and better judgement) doing our constructionline application at the moment, what a load of balls....
