hi guys, just signed up on arbtalk as im after some expert advice.

im halfway through level 2 arb at college and looking at buying my 1st harness so i can go practice climbing more as we only climb 1 day a week at college. i use a skylotec kilobri at college as after trying the ones available to me there which include a dragonfly, weaver, willans, petzl seqoia the skylotec was the best for me cause of my size (im 5 foot 9 and 16 stone with chunky thighs ) and with the wide back support and wide leg loops i found this one suits me best. so was looking at buying one of the new kilobri click ones. i have around £250 saved up at the minute as the kilobri click costs around £268 inc vat at fr jones and sons but for another £30 i could buy a treemotion harness which seems to be the one everybody is raving about. ive tried on a treemotion n had a hang about in it in the shop and it gave me the support i needed but ive not actually climbed in one. just wondered what you guys think?? sorry its a bit long winded but hope you can help. cheers daz

Dont go for a harness just because everyone else has one! i climb in a tree motion and love it! great with the side d's on your legs when your chogging down with a big saw. But i hate the skylotec so if thats what your used to stick with it for now :thumbup1:

P.S. Welcome to the forum its a mad house here :)

If you want a durable harness dont go for a tree motion. They are a great harness comfort and technical wise but they wear quick, my boss got through one in 9 months! Ive got a Dragonfly i have to retire only because its service life (5 yrs) is up, im proberly gonna get another. Check out the Harkie harness too, someone i know loves his!

Had a skylotec then got a treemotion theres a reason everyone uses it and it does last if treated well. The skylotec is comfortable but is large and i found it cumbersome good for hanging in but not the best for pruning. The treemotion is a nice middle ground enough support and padding to hang in for a decent time but not restrict you enough when you are moving around a dense canopy.
