Probably Perenniporia fraxinea. What were the roots like?

Did the decay go down very far?

yep,took it down with telehandler with man cage,could grab top of limbs and waggle whole tree in the ground,which was disconcerting! did back cut and pushed with machine and it just tore out of the ground,roots had turned to gloop!

It does look like P. fraxinea, was the tree dead before you felled it?

Also, any ideas on the red circled areas here? Not very clear on my little phone screen; are they the undersides of the buttresses which pulled up when felled? Could they be Kretch? Or do they have purple colouring, Chondostereum purpureum maybe?

yes mate,they are bottom of butresses,not sure about colouring of fungus,was aright old mess,but butresses had turned to grey slime,which was nice
