Helmet for cross-cutting firewood?

Although only cross cutting, I always wear my PPE including helmet, visor and ear defenders, apart from offering a degree of protection it also tunes the mind into thinking about the chainsaw and helps remind me about not being sloppy in my work. Treat it with respect and wearing PPE is a good reminder (for me).

the peak on the helmet could prove vital protection in the event of kickback, although thats unlikely on a horse

 

This guy is using a chainsaw on a horse, and is wearing a HAT. Is that recommended?

I think I would be more concerned about kickback from the horse than from the saw!
