Moisture meter question?

Hi folks.

I got a new Stihl moisture meter and was wondering?

How far to you poke in the spikes?

If I just rest them on the wood I get a reading of 16 - 18% but if I push them further in the reading goes up to about 20 - 22%.

It's very addictive once you have one!:001_smile:

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys. I have been splitting (well not the coffee table, doors, work surfaces etc) what I measure but I get different readings when I push it in too far!

I'll go with the gentle touch (as it gives a better reading).

Looks like my newly split oak is 46% and my seasoned beech is 18%.

Now what can I check tomorrow!

Thanks again.
