Saw F. pinicola today at Hatfield on a dead birch - will upload photos shortly.

Cool, funnily enough I was driving past there today on the way back from Essex.

Unfortunately didn't have the time to stop off.........was it fruitful?

Yeah so much stuff! Possible Aurantiporus on ash, too. Many samples to send to Kew, incl. dryad (Cerioporus sp.) on a massive hawthorn. Just got back and got dinner on so hopefully have some up by later tonight. :)

Here's the Fomitopsis pinicola on the dead birch. Hopefully the link works as the site just crashed on me after uploading them! If it doesn't work let me know and I'll re-upload. Large files so you can zoom in on the tube layer, pores (hymenium), etc. :)

Seems all the images lost their order...!

Yep working now, very nice find.

Seems to be being noted more regularly over the last couple of years.

Would be interesting to know if it's host range is widening like that of Fomes fomentarius.

Suspected Aurantiporus fissilis (greasy bracket) on Fraxinus excelsior (ash). Sadly, the area was fully fenced off with barbed wire, to stop deer grazing. The site is Hatfield Forest. The outward morphology ticks all the boxes that I can consider to represent this fungus.

Some really nice collection of shots (open images in tabs to zoom in fully).

Looks good for the greasy (from a colour and morphological perspective) :thumbup1:

Shame you couldn't get a slice to confirm.

But classic MO

Small request, could you post an image as well as the Imagur link for future reference?

I think more people would see what your talking about as I don't believe everyone visiting this thread clicks your links which might mean they miss out.
