Got a few trees locally I'm keeping an eye on, and there's a sweet chestnut woodland nearby so will take a trip up there. WIll also see if the G. lucidum is coming out on the hornbeam up that way as well, as Martin at Kew asked me to keep a tabs. Just hoping the chickens don't end up in a pan before I get there.

Saw this bracket growing from a sleeper outside a neighbours house. Only got one pic as I thought they may wonder what I was doing taking close ups of their steps! Had a look at the fungi app, but still no clue as to what it could be?

Looks like Laetiporus sulphureus to me Will.

 

Any idea what wood the sleeper is?

I would guess it's oak

 

 

 

 

Out of interest, did you try using the fungi colour search option on the app?

Yes it looks like an oak sleeper. Yea I did use the colour seach but I didn't think it was laetiporus because it was only a single bracket.

This fine looking dryads saddle on a Bramley apple in the garden of my parents neighbours in deepest darkest Norfolk........

Just I little bit of ganoderma on and oak in a field next to a dead one we were felling
