Found this on a wound of a Cedar tree today.....

 

Phaeolus schweinitzii I do believe, I mistook it for Inonotus on the Tree Life tech cert training day.

 

 

 

After chasing up host, and upon consultation with my minion, Ischnoderma benzoinum has been proffered as a good possibility.

 

Ischnoderma benzoinum (Wahlenb.) P. Karst., 1881 (Benzoin Bracket)

 

Phaeolus can be upon the stem on wounds, but is most commonly on the ground.

Would appear North London is resplendent with the same species that you have in lower south west London Seany :tongue_smilie:
