Podoscypha multizonata

 

The tree (h chestnut) is just outside my house, where I park my car

I would agree that the association is for sure with the chestnut.

 

Good fortune for the fung that it has the bollards to part protect it :thumbup1:

 

The Uk (supposedly) has nearly 50% of the entire European population of Podo

If you have the time or inclination, its worth considering reporting your find to the Mycology department at Kew.

Whether London should have it listed as a priority biodiversity action plan species is possibly up for debate, particularly as Hampstead is such a strong hold for Podoscypha.

 

The host range & habitat type certainly appears to be wider than both the JNCC (above) & FRDBI list reports.

 

We 'stumbled' upon a new fruiting site for us just this morning, next to hornbeam.
