Sure did, was a real treat, had a gentle scramble on the lower limbs, she's a truly majestic tree, got some pics which don't really do the tree justice, something you gotta see in the flesh to fully appreciate I reckon...cheers for ident on the pholiota by the way

Im glad you all got over to her, I did plan to meet you guys but got away too late. She is a very very special old girl, no meripilus showing then? was the gano fully formed yet?

there were a couple of groups of fruiting merips, only spotted a small gano looking at pics after coming away.

shame you didn't make it, david said you might see us there...am sure we'll be back there in the not too distant future, the whole area is a great place to lose hours simply exploring:thumbup1:

Ashridge is a very special place, Ive spent hundreds maybe even a thousand hours or more round the park, but frishden beeches is the creme de la creme of it. Absolutley classic beech woodland habitat with all the species present that you might associate with ancient beech woodland, a very good place to study the eco system that is beech woodland:thumbup1:
