Colleague came across these a couple of months ago.

 

Was back in the area couple of days back, they've matured in spreading over the dead epicormic shoots underneath them, on this Birch log.

 

Believe them to be Phellinus ferreus - cinamon porecrust

Nice pics! One Phellinus I havent come a cross yet.

At the moment Im on a hunt for Fometopsis rosea, lovely little things, Ive heard about a gnome that apparently seen them in some old forest not too far from me.:sneaky2:

Didn't know the Hama was over in your neck of the woods :biggrin:

I like the pics too! I see how trained the eye needs become to pick out the fb's sometimes.../:001_smile:

 

Yes, theres a lot to be said for just going out there and training the eye.

 

I still come across new stuff that my eyes never used to pick up on, once youve got "familiar" with a species it becomes second nature to spot them.

 

I sometimes wonder if there is more fungi around these days or wether Im just better at seeing those that are there and have always been there:001_smile:
