I found some Laetiporus on a log that had been pushed into a stream weird for me as I had only really seen it in the canopy before .

 

Yes it would appear that it likes both living and dead material but not very often found on coniferous wood. But also grows on Larches in the Alps.

 

And can be eaten if washed thoroughly before cooking, not sure if I could though. As much as I like Mushrooms and Fungi.:001_smile:

there are around 16 forms of Laetoporus, 16 strains

 

each ecosystem will have its specific one, evolved for that zone.

 

dont eat it off yew trees, a child was said to have horrible side effects from eating Laetiporus, I suspect it came from a yew tree.
