So, on descent with a rope not big enough to put an alpine butterfly in to retrieve the rope, how does one retrieve the rope?

In this case, once everyone was down, Nathan untied everything then came down ddrt, with a couple of changeovers. The tree was 34 odd metres so would've needed a sixty metre + rope to get a base tie in one rope. Otherwise, you could do some mallion/ring/throwline combos to retrieve a top tie in a tree such as this. There's a few ways to do it, check out the tcia srt handbook and the rw thread:thumbup:

2ft dbh and over 80ft height, that was one tall skinny tree:thumbup:

It's crazy Dan I've created it with imovie on my ipad with a song I bought of iTunes and it won't let me play it either?....

it was a tad skinny at the top but i got a good clean measure from it wrapping myself around the stem.
