Had a good year on the shoot where my mates the keeper.Put a lot of effort when the poults arrived.There was a bit of illness but stamped it out straight away.We`ve also been right on top of the foxing although its been mostly on foot with nv as its too boggy to drive.

I do saturdays with my lad beating and take one of the dogs with us.Bags have been well up on last year despite the weather and the grain being poor quality.I`ve done a few days in the week on another shoot this season so should have three beaters days plus a days walked up at the end of the month.

I`ve also done a bit of loading on a couple of other shoots which has been fun, if a bit frantic.Double gunning.

Tried my seven month old lab for the first time after christmas, just to get her used to gunfire.Turned out my training has paid off and i`m really pleased with her progress.

Quite a few trees down though, wrecking a couple of pens so theres a bit of work to do in the off season with a new pen to build as well.

Ha ha he just plain forgot. He phoned me at 9.30 yesterday morning asking if i was on my way. Was a quick change of clothes, chuck waterprrofs in the truck, get odds n sods for food whilst truck was warming up n rush up there. I got there just as they started the first drive:lol:

Not bad despite the monsoon conditions. Shot 65 in total including 8 woodcock and a jay.

Had a snotting day today. Made myself 19 quid on the sweep as put 195 but we shot 238 total including vermin. Was very happy with my efforts on the last drive. Shot 9 on the blank then another 28 whilst standing. Next beaters day is weds then a sold day on the 1st Feb.

Should have gone shooting on Saturday but had a stinking cold so gave it a miss. Will be shooting on Thursday at the Audley End estate just out side Saffron Waldon.
