How hard is it to find work in Germany?

I'm absolutely loving NZ so far but I'm questioning whether or not I'll stay here when my visa runs out at the end of September, just not that stoked about being so far away and for example missing my best friends 21st in 5 days time.

 

NZ has been and still is a massive eye opener to me, it's made me very reluctant to want to move back to the UK as in my mind I still want to be adventurous and experience arb/life in different parts of the world.

 

I'm not asking someone to do all the leg work for me and find work details (that's certainly not what happened for NZ, I thought the organising would never end!), what I'm after is a basic overview of what it's like finding work/accomodating etc in Germany if people have been through the process... is it as demoralising as the UK or as easy as NZ??

 

I've got 9 monthes to think about it and potentially 9 monthes to learn as much of the language as I can, I did it for my GCSE's in school so the basics are rusty but there.

 

Any help would be massively appreciated.

My wife and I are thinking of moving to Germany also - I started a thread about it a couple of weeks ago (I would link you to it but each time I view the page the address bar simply says arbtalk dot com, and nothing else - just search German and it comes up).

 

I spent a lot of time there as a child and I remember so many trees. I could walk out of my grandmothers garden on the edge of Osnabruck and immediately be in Beech forest that would stretch for miles. Paths everywhere and adventure stations throughout (climbing frames, swings, slides, monkey bars etc).

 

In Germany I believe that they are far stricter on qualification, so make sure that you well up to date on everything (including first aid I would think). I really can't offer much advise at this stage as we are simply in the initial stages of investigation ourselves. All I can do is offer encouragement and say go for it!

hey guys i have just done the move from nz to germany and have a full time job over here so any questions you want answering just message me.

also have had my nz certs approved and now have a german cert also , i would not recomend if you don't have certs as this is a country run by paper insurance and more paper feel free to ask any questions

Bro move to Switzerland instead, better pay amazing tree work and no paper work, just have to prove your worth. Best place i work out of UK, Norway, NZ, OZ, Sweden and for tree work and standard of climbers companies etc.

 

you still need to speak german or french or Italian depending on where you go and they give you 5year visa when you got a job contact stupidly easy. and amazing country i can drive to Austria, Germany, Italy within 2 hrs sick as.

 

best of luck, Chur to NZ that will always be my home but worst for tree work and pay.

I'll check it out! I'm just weighing up my options at the moment and giving myself plenty of time to do things properly. Interesting that you say you didn't think much of the work in NZ? I've done some pretty big climbs out here so far and decent felling like in my avatar.

 

Tickets are just something I'll have to pay up for, I'll need them at some point and I don't want to turn into another winger about how much hassle they are, I'll just get them done.

Yup i also did my dass at the Big Asplundh politics, 1.5 years there is some good work there but the world is bigger and the tree work is better. their knowledge of pruning in NZ is defo lacking and no where near enough of it, as to say loads removals as well as OZ. this is also due to climate but still they dont grow fast enough as we are chopping then down.

 

I find working in Euro alot better for the soul in the tree climbing world. Yup tickets are tickets but you will learn something i am sure and it sets us different from the rest, they does need to be something. 3yrs at Myerscough was enough for me but love it aswell.
