Find a local farmer who needs a bit of extra cash stick a container on his farm, or offer him free firewood and do all his tree work on the farm for free, (as long as he does not own 1000's of acres of woodland!!).

Same as above with two exceptions, just pay for the yard or you could end up working too much for the yard and secondly you need planning permission for a container. So dont lay out for one just to be told you have to shift it.

You can put container in barn with no planning permission required, and if farm has no public footpaths through it no one cares anyway. Just lay down the rules and there will be not issues with working to much, say 2 cubic meters of firewood a month and 1/2 a days tree work, thats something like what I do. Plus being on a farm you might get use of diggers, tractors etc.

I've been looking into industrial units to let for storing equipment and the like, but locally, even units that aren't, what i'd call, top end are mega expensive i think....... some of them are £30000 a year!!!!!

How do you go about finding yards or space to work from???

Cheers

My father owns a smallish industrial estate and yard area....I believe the going rate is about £3.00 per month for each square foot of wind/watertight unit and much less for yard space. If you end up renting a unit, remember that there'll be rates on top of your rent + electric etc.

The guy I used to work for in Suffolk rented his yard off a local estate, think he was paying £50 all in a month for the yard space + an old barn to store equipment.
