Hi all,

Was just wondering if any of you have tweaked your climbing system in any way to create beneficial advantages when climbing on double rope technique.

I found this one out a while back, it's pretty useful when advancing up a tall tree because the knot is self-tending and you can get nice long pulls.

Would love to see what you guys know!

Cheers!

As Drew says. Swap the alpine butterfly for a small prussik and you have a very useful set up, I climb on the 'O' rig in trees where a lot of up and downing is on the cards, You get your full arms length of pull, very easy ascents.

There is an 'O' rig thread, check it out.

The O rig is great but I dont think ive used it more than a handful of times. A tweak ive not tried but heard is good is the ring over the legs of the hitch cord on a vt. Drew was rocking that for a bit and it looked like it minimised the sit back in the hitch a bit. Hook that up with an adjustable O rig and it would be a pretty tweaked setup!:thumbup1:

Calm down. I simply had never made a significant tweak to my DdRT gear, except buying a lockjack.

It was clearly a joke IMO.

No offence taken.:thumbup1:

I used to find an o rig a PITA if i wanted to advance my line on the way up, if I didnt hit my top anchor with the throwline straight away. Used to just use a sling to the hitchclimber. Easier changeovers.

One of my guys used to use an O Rig and really liked it but because he was always in small to medium trees he also found the change over a bit tiresome. A sling was easier for him.

I used to use a sling under my Lockjack too (although I'm scared to mention it incase DrewB looses it with me:laugh1:)
