how wouldi setup S.R.T and or D.R.T

Hi David,

I admire your ambition and thirst to learn to climb, but I have to say that it cannot be taught via a forum or even by watching videos of others climbing. If you are going to learn to climb trees safely, you absolutely must learn from someone competent face to face.

There are too many things to go wrong otherwise - one slightly wrong knot or one carabiner in the wrong loop and you could have a serious fall.

Please don't think I am trying to put you off or anything - your enthusiasm is great but needs to be channeled in a safe learning environment.:thumbup1:

have a look on you tube for the climbing arborist he has a lot of videos that will help you with the info you will need. some of it will be too advanced to start with but there is some basic tutorials on his videos page an those rock exotica crabs are fine. personal preference but i love the DMM ultra O's similar in price!!!

I was taught when I did my climbing tickets about a little rule my instructor called the "5 or 50 rule" basically means if you fall 5 feet of 50 feet if you land wrong your dead.

Ok so maybe last night turned into a bit more of an argument rather than a debate, and no one is going to learn from that!

So a little message for all beginners out there reading threads like this, is ok to try new things out but as discovered in lasts nights banter not every technique is for every climber, were all different and we all feel comfortable with certain techniques, certain styles, and certain gear, that's why there's a wide variety of toys to choose from, from different manufactures,

So on that note I'll say this!

What ever technique it is you want to change to, what ever gear/hitch/style you want to try stay safe practice and remember

LOW AND SLOW! :001_smile:

hi guys, i'm a new climber just got my cs38 . i hate the prussick but i'm looking for a system to use so that when i'm out on a branch i can take up slack with one hand leaving the other hand free for holding, balance etc.how would the blakes hitch with a pulley or a hitchclimber affect my acsending if at all ? i have a good bodythrust\footlocking technique and have fairly good upper body strength ?:confused1:

I've been climbing now for a good 2 years tried started on prussik, tried hc lasted a week back on prussik and it's stayed that way,

I love the fact it's so cheap an simple an I'm my opinion the best way to make climbing easier is to reduce friction so I go right up to get my anchor, install my pulley ( can be fitted retrievable or fixed ) then im away on a tried and tested simple system that's cheap and easy maintain.
