Hi guy's,

After a recent break in I'm in desperate need of a new work vehicle. I want to get a 110 high capacity pick up or 130 pick up.

I don't have a massive budget as I have only just left contract work to start my own business. There are plenty of pick up's that would be ideal for me, apart form the price.

One thing that I am thinking is to get a hard top 110 and convert it in to a pick up, I have seen it done before and it was not a big job.

- So question 1 is: How hard is it to source the cab and rear tub conversions?

- Secondly: Has any one ever tried turning say a 110 County Station Wagon in to a pick up, is the process still pretty simple?

Due to the lack of vehicle I'm going to be kicking about for the next month so figured I can get something sorted and ready for my new start in the New Year!!

I appreciate that there are Land Rover forums for this kind of thing but thought I would try you guy's first.

Any pointers are appreciated,

Dave

It depends how much you wish to spend. Decent un bent cabs are difficult to find and seem to go for silly money on ebay. The conversion is all quite simple and not too many bits needed. Go to your landrover parts place, they will have a diagram on the computer which has the part numbers, bolts etc on it.

I have a roof and rear top bulhead panel going spare aswell

Might also have a headlining depending on how I trim the inside of the one I am currently doing.

equicar had the lower pannels last time i looked too ! there are many brakets you will need for the tub or why not build a flat deck on it with dropsides very usefull and then you could build a box that fits on it ?

fitted a 130 tub to a 110 CSW along with a "king cab" tool locker - was all fairly straight forward - mounted the tub on a sub frame onto the original chassis mounts which has raised it by two inches, which is not ideal,so direct to the normal body height would be better.

Sourced all the panels required off of ebay and a couple of bits from a breakers down in Glastonbury - and sold all the bits I'd removed on ebay and pretty much covered the costs - rear doors seemed to be very popular!
