I've got a very similar knot that 'I sorta made / copied' off a sterling rope advert. And it only sets nice with the stein eye 2 eye beeline. I haven't tried it with 9 mm straight beeline with no splices or sewn terminations, and would like to post a pic but don't know how to from iphone?

Plus another cord that stays firm and keeps its roundness would be good for this knot too?!

I tested this knot flatout yesterday, tried everything, it never jams and is completely free flowing, the lower part keeps its squareness and helps the ascent, only issue is you sometimes have to lock it off, but it still locks at a shock. Best knot i've used.
