On similar grounds then maybe the removal of all pics of the man box that would never pass a loler inspection ?

 

Needs must im not into using machines or equiptment thats not fit for purpouse but on ocasions you sometimes have to bend the rules a little to your needs just asses the risk and be safe thats all !

I was referring to the extreme potential for harm using the 200t like that. I'll use almost any piece of kit to get a job done as I have a Heath Robinson attitude and can adapt stuff to serve a purpose.

The point was, and I know this detracts from the very lucky car driver and the obvious skills and balls of the guy cutting up the tree, using a 200t like that is introducing an extra level of unnecessary risk into an already very hazardous operation.

I apologize for detracting from the core message of the thread.

i have been involved with loler testing Man cages and telehandlers for years ! for insurance purposes.

 

the requierments for any lifitng equiptment that is used for person lifitng is a 6 monthly inspection for both the machine and the cage and that cage would fail due to the two large bends in the structure therefore without a proper repair it would fail the test therefore any insurance would be invalid !

 

Like i said im not an angel and im not Knocking the job but in the vain of the Previous poster with concerns about the saw use i was just filling in a different gap !

 

At least the use of man cage is far far far better than someone standing in a bucket or on a pallet etc !

 

Just as has been said in other threads tthis is a public forum and who knows whos looking and there are people out there who would happly have nothing better to do than stir up some hassle for someone, this wasnt my intention and like i say i would do / use the same in similar situations if i had to to get a job done but simple stuff saves lives and hassle and fines !

 

I am well aware of the vast amonut of BS relating to H&S that has replaced common sense i have had far too long dealing with it in previous jobs !
