Great thanks for that, I'll check the d009 pattern with the bar on the saw.

Rob assuming it would fit could you get hold of a d009 bigger than 36"? And have you any idea of cost?

Many thanks

John

Yep - is it running .404 chain? You can ID this yourself Chain ID table and here Chain | bar | sprocket identification

If so (which it prob is) I have:

42" Oregon Powermatch bars £98-00+vat

40" Sugihara bars £120-00+vat

41" Cannon bars £236-00+vat

You get 10% off these prices (but register on http://www.chaibsawbars.co.uk first)

Sugihara is prob the one to go for IMO.

FWIW you can take Stihl mount bar that would fit say 026 to 066 and adapt it to just about any saw made .Two examples .

I have an old restored 2100S Homelite that uses a 36" 066 mount Windser bar .The difference in the wider slot of the Stihl bar and the 3/8" studs of the Homelite are adapted using spacers which are essentually just precission turned thick washers that any machinest could do in ten mintues .

Conversely I also have a 42" 066 mount size milled to fit an 084 Stihl which has a wider slot in that bar size .

Stihl mount bars are plentiful where as some of the others are not .To coin an old phrase"there's more than one way to skin a cat "

Thanks for all the information on this. I've checked the mount against the d009 pattern and it dosent exactly match, the slot is 9.5mm but the small holes are directly above the bigger ones unlike the d009 where the smaller holes are above and forward. The hole that is up and forward of the big hole in the picture is only on one side. I have attached a picture of the bar thats on the saw now if anyone can shed any more light that'd be great because I'm confused!?
