The ipad replacement is here!

News this morning that apple sales unexpectedly down and thus share price dropped etc etc! Can't say I'm upset for them!

Always wondered if after the death of Steve Jobs things would go pear shaped.

Very good!:001_rolleyes::lol::lol:

This is Microsoft's great hope, people want tablets to be PC's but they don't want the limitations a PC has (like a clunky OS and management of etc) oh dear it's got a Windows OS! FAIL.

If people want a tablet they will go and buy an iPad or and android equiv, if corporates want to equip their staff with tablets (because everyone is walking through the door with one and taking company data out) then they will buy the MS version so that they can secure the nuts out of it, easily. This is Microsoft's market place, large corporates.

If Joe public buys one then it's because either they like MS or because they aren't aware how to use the iPad/Android properly and think it's just a multimedia device.

A PC is a PC and a tablet is a tablet, only cloud computing can change this and you won't need local storage and the ability to connect all sorts of crap you had to on a PC just to make it useable.

As an Apple virgin, that sounds very interesting. The only issue I have with it though is the fact you need to go fully over to apple to be able to use it to full capacity. All due to incompatability issue.

I care neither way, I like my iPad, every person I know who has one rates it. I know a judge who uses one to "carry" all her files into court now, on one tablet instead of volumes of paperwork. Of course there will be other tablets out there, but IMO they are mimicking what's already out there, playing catch up with the most successful system. There are hang ups with every system, which ever way you go. Apples iPad is far more capable than I really need, why would I bother with anything else?

I find iPad pretty compatible Pete. Got the Apple version of excel on ipad (which is much nicer) for accounts etc and you can access it on pc and edit it etc saved on the cloud.

Eventually you do find yourself using iPad most of the time because its faster and easier.

And as they say "there's an app for that"

You do not need to go fully over to Apple if you don't wish to. Apple recognise the fact that they are not the leader so have full Windows capability (in terms of docking an iPad to a windows environment). If however you did want to buy an MacBook and immerse yourself in Apple, then you can still run MS Windows on it and all your usual Windows programmes you just need to buy a product called Fusion and of course the Windows OS. Once loaded then then you have a normal Windows environment on a Mac.

There is a growing number of people who do this and generally speaking the people that do so want to use an Apple for all of it's advantages but still have one or two apps that are a must and only run on windows.

IMO tablets are not for everyone yet, in 5+ years though they will be the norm though, PC's and desktops will be taking up space in the tip and tablets will become throw away devices free of data and OS's (thankfully). It will be just another evolution of the tech industry.

With Apples cloud system you can have all your home based data at your fingertips on the iPad or even iPhone. Windows in general is rubbish! Once you make the change to apples systems you won't go back! If you must run office you can partition your drive and install it all at the click of a button! iPhones now come with quite large memory capacity and now mean you can take your office on your phone!
