Laburnum any good to burn?

I haven't had any to sell to the miller I mentioned but a couple of years ago one of the best known turners in the south-east saw a 6' x 8" length in my pickup and gave me £40 for it there and then.

I have no idea whether that's market price but the cost to me was felling it and snedding it!

Do you think you could pass my number on to him? We get it in ocassionaly and if he wants to buy it rather than me split it i'm happy to sell :)

Will PM you

...I'll be seeing the miller soon; I'll ask him what he pays.

OK, saw the guy today and have some egg on my face. I asked 'what would be the top price you'd pay for a 6' x 9" piece of top quality laburnum - one with a large, straight and dark heart'?

£40! :blushing:

But you should get more selling directly to a turner if you can find one keen enough on the stuff. Every turner I speak to for the first time who answers the question 'what woods do you like?' includes lab.

Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up. I'll crawl off now...
