There is no going rate mate, just work the figures back what will it cost you to extract i.e. how long with the kit you have ? how many man days ? how much do you want to earn out of the job ?

Looking at the figures i posted with 1k extraction costs and 2 k profit i wouldn't want to give him much more than 5.00 ton, he may well be expecting 8 - 10.

Really you just need to find out what your end user will pay and what the client wants for it and take it from there.

I reguarly pay 9.00 ton for chip wood at roadside so firewood is good money.

As a guide...The estate here in Lincs were asking £5 /ton standing for firewood at the beginning of this season (although more recently, some outfit were paying around £10 /ton for ash..standing..this is in Notts..not sure if they made much money on that one). A rough figure for felling and extracting is £18 / ton..I think it splits 50/50 between felling and extracting, so that puts it at £14 / ton at stump. However, we're talking about a different county here, and it all depends on lots of stuff.

Are you dealing with the owner direct, or through some sort of agent? This the owner a farmer?

I'd be interested to know what price it goes for.

I have just ordered an artic of Larch. Min 10" at the narrow end, front end of lorry all 5m plus, rear of lorry 3.6m plus, 25-27 cubes / tonnes on lorry for £65 per tonne inc del VAT etc to a remote area (added £5 tonne to normal delivery cost). Its for milling up not firewood mind you.
