Adam's Rant at....... Work Gloves!

It was noted by the eminent Charles Darwin that Humans have evolved from Apes. It was noted that the Human thumb is appose-able and thus is able to grip in a manner, and indeed manipulate objects in a way that has caused the human race to evolve rapidly into the "masters" of the Earth.

Why then do all the expensive, top quality kid palmed gloves have so little protection on the tip of the thumb. How many pairs of perfectly decent chainsaw gloves have I binned because of this.

What dumb ape of a person can manufacture such rubbish! I may be Cornish and as such not at the top of the evolutionary ladder, somewhere above Scousers and below Cockney's, but other than abnormally large wedding veg and a low forehead we Cornish deserve gloves that work!

Thank you for your time Gents, feel a little better!

I think an integral solution for keeping the water out of your eyes in the shower is s fair trade off for poor fitting gloves.....

More relevantly, and although not full of wadding, I like my Petzl Belay gloves for this very reason.... a thumb so well wrapped in goats leather that if you did have the misfortune to find your thumb somewhere it shouldn't be, you may not get it out....

I have it in my head they were 20 something quid, so not cheap.

But very comfy... not great for climbing, too slippy, and I wouldn't want them for dragging thorns all day, but for general 'using a chainsaw' they're nice, keep my fingies warm, I don't make my delicate palms rough from branches and they're very good for general rope handling & throwbagging... How they'll last in [or on] the hands of 'real men', day in day out, I couldn't say...
