Fencing by single operator

Hi, Im in the same situation as you, with the exception that ive just done it! About 6 months ago i bought a p10 post knocker from protech Protech Machinery | Post drivers

To add to my Kanga 620d. I had hoped that it would enable quicker fencing but more importantly better fencing. Although it works well, it is a process of constant re adjustment (making sure stakes are upright) knocker is upright. I certainly think it would be better off of a mini digger than the mini skidsteer (more stable). Going to look at a tracked knocker (well making one).

Tractor ones are great, if the terrain is pretty good (no low trees) and you don't mind getting in and out

 

The protech p10 is a good little machine but on a mini digger it is rather unsteady unless you have the leg down, look up vector mini digger postdriver, IMO these are the best ones to go on a digger as when you put it on top of the stake the postcap can only travel a few inches up the mast before it stops and therefore transfers the weight of the machine onto the stake making the whole process far more accurate and steady.

When im knocking stakes in like this i can just keep hammering whilst making small adjustments. the best bit about the whole setup is that iv got the buckets there too iincase i need to do a bit of grading/digging- which is nearly always the case anyway with my kind of jobs.

This is my set up,always seem to work single handed,just one quality of work and nobody asking if they can go home at 7pm!!!

nice- doesn't get much better then the bryce- I was looking at them at the APF, makes the wrag look a little weedy! no rock spike i see take it the grounds good around you.

Out of interest i see your struts arn't in line with the rest of the fence- whats the reasoning behind this?

We have some of the worst ground you can imagine around here,this job was an exception,heavy grey clay. The strainer is a turner that i strutted due to soft ground,wire around the back and progress forward again.

This is my 2nd bryce suma and must admit i would not use anything else now,excellent build quality and the heavy weight grunt for all types and sizes of posts. Next one will have a rock spike,should save me carting the hydraulic handheld breaker around with me.

aah yes so it is. the only time i find it helpful if someone else is there is when straining long (200m plus) strands of barb when theres lots of turns of direction, as that way one person can keep walking the line making sure its not getting hung up on turners and easing it round with a myti bar whilst the other keeps cranking with the monkey strainers. on my own i find i clock up a hell of a lot of mileage a day walking up and down the line.

Well said, have done miles and miles in the past 23 yrs checking wire tension,lovely feeling to get an even balanced tension and to finish stapling up to look back at a perfect fence line..

Has any one used the Protech p220 on a 5 ton machine to knock strainers in in hard ground? would be very interested to hear opinions.

Have seen the p220 tractor mounted and it did perform very well on hard shale ground putting in 10ft Deer strainers. was very impressed....

Thanks, got 1400m to do on a old coal spoil tip site, so need some thing with a bit of punch.
