Remove the targets

 

This was my preferred option, but there is an access road directly below.

Thanks for the info. on the likelihood of retrenchment initiation, bracing is a possibility, and an end weight reduction with a thin sounds good.

 

I am just touting for ideas, it is quite an iconic tree. I.ll get some photos.

Yes you can reduce them, imo go in at 15%(don't take the 15% literally it just gives you room to play with more) and treat it as a tip thin more than a reduction... Have seen some very nice ones done and have had very good results my self doing this.

If your a competent climber who has skill at reductions it should not be a problem.
