That sets the scene of the wildwood nicely. There must have been open grazed land for oaks to propagate.

 

We have some areas of grazing land that have been left to go wild and where the bramble is to thick for the deer to get to I see oak regen

The foliar pathogen Uncinula bicornis here on field maple.

 

Which other tree species (apart from oak) have you seen the various mildews on ?

Perhaps it wasn't p.m, to be honest I glanced it as I rushed past and just assumed. Although I think I have seen it on Mahonia in the past...

Also possibly worth mentioning is my garden honey suckle was covered last year but free from mildew this year.

Interesting that the honeysuckle has not been affected this year.
