Hi

I live in Poole Dorset and I've been looking for courses to start in grounds maintenance but mainly lawn maintenance.

I'm not entirely sure on what to search or look for and what courses will be relevant for working in the industry, so could anyone help with my search criteria

Thanks in advance

Marc

Sorry cant recommend courses but can recommending reading 'sports turf & amenity grassland management' and 'the lawn expert' gives a lot of information and education.

It probably seems obvious to some of you one "whats, what" but I don't know anybody personally in this industry so its learn as I go.

If you know of anyone needing labour help and its within a sensible driving time or they could cover the fuel cost, I'd love some experience and to work a little more within the industry to learn more. I have a couple of days a week and obviously weekends free.

Thank you for the replies

hi woodster i live in poole if you are looking for some advice or help give me a pm

I would recommend an RHS level 2 qualification to give you a good background in horticulture. Even if you go on to specialise in turf care a good understanding of soil types etc. will help you make good decisions as a service provider.

i would also look in to some voluntary work, there's plenty of gardens and big estates down here. It may give you a feel for the industry and when you do go for a job employers will look for it -it shows you want to be there.

All the best
