A mate of mine is looking to buy a processor to tackle the huge pile of timber we produce from tree surgery.

As you can imagine, all our timber is of various species, lengths and diameters.

Which processor, or type of processor, if any, would you recommend to help us get through all our arisings?

you best bet for tree surgery waste is a saw and good pto splitter,as all timbers different sizes, bent etc,for a processor would be a pain unless you sorted through it first into same diameters.

Same as everyone else, a big vertical splitter and a decent chainsaw.

If there's a lot of branchwood or decent stuff that will billet, then a circular saw isnt a bad addition, maybe even one with an elevator.

If you are tackling a lot of various size and shape timber I'd recommend a screw splitter. That can take up to 2 foot rings easily (you'd need good muscles to lift anything larger). Screws work better the more seasoned the wood is. Good new screw splitters are around £1500 or slightly less second hand.

To operate a srew spliiter does require a PTO drive.
