Hi all looking for any feedback on any of the 20 tonne pluss PTO vertical spliters. Looked at most of the usuals Thor Poche Woodline. Just wanted any feedback good or bad? Hoping to pick one up at apf. Only concern i have is it possible with any of them to work at waist height? I know you can get optional tables for them that raise the height for splitting rings but it still doesnt look high enough. Can you sit splitter up in air to work at a comfortable height or does this interfere with the pto? We currently just use a cheap hydrolic one which we just hold up in air on 3 point linkage so its at about waist height?

Cheers Jim

Couldn't get on with vertical splitters at all for doing billets but great for rings. We have a 12 tonne horizontal splitter sat on a stack of pallets which gives the best of both worlds and a big 22 tonne horizontal for loading with a jcb for the big stuff.

Think unless you go for one of the smaller table tyoe verticals (like the Balfor A11 or the 10T Thor) then you'll be somewhere just above knee height, which isn't as bad as you may think.

What you'll find more of a pain is trying to balance a big disc on a small table, but you can usually break it in half, drop one half while you split the rest an then just pick the other half up to split next - a timber pick is a great help when splitting discs on a vertical.

I used to have the old style 20T thor and really liked it, and work quite a bit with the newer 18T super magic thor and like that too.

The big balfor verticals were alwys quite popular and fast too.

If cost's not hugely important then the big Posch ones are really really nice.
