I have what I suspect is a rather old 200T and it's a non starter. I've noticed there is no fuel getting through and my money is on a carb fault. I've tried to remove the left hand cover and for the life of me I can't seem to shift it.

 

I believe I've removed all the screws and the cover is coming away towards the front but around the fuel tank area its still holding fast.

 

I was going to persuade it with a large hammer

 

But then I thought it might be best to seek your advice chaps:001_smile:

 

Whilst nosing about in the fuel tank I did notice a rather large chunk of paint floating happily about inside looking for something to block so I'm hoping it's a case of blocked carb jets etc.

 

Anyone got any tips on stripping it, or better still a link to the workshop manual.

Actually chaps, cancel the previous. The saw I have is the 020AV, still having the issue getting to the carb.

Not quite sure why you need to remove the left hand cover (guess you mean the recoil housing) although it should come off easily when the screws are out. No need for hammers or levers.

 

Causes of no fuel geting through can be:-

 

split or holed fuel pick up hose, blocked tank filter, blocked gauze inside carb or damaged impulse hose.

 

The only fuel related thing you need take the recoil off for is too change the impulse hose.

 

EDIT so its an 020AV, hahaha, thats a different story, but the same causes are valid and need to be checked.

I'm fairly sure that there is at least one screw coming through from the other side into the recoil/tank housing on the 020AV, totally different to a 200T. Be careful.

The 020AV is a bit of a pig to work on - I had one apart and put some images on the "Whats on your bench" thread,

Thanks guys, there was a very deep sneaky screw coming in from the other side as you mention, I found it and removed it but still can't get the damn thing apart.

 

I'll take a look at that doc and have another go when the sun comes up
