Jon, seeing as I now inhabit the attic room I have the smallest fireplace in the house...so even after I set the kindling etc. I'm going to need to process this Mendip-log:rolleyes::D its a bit knotty! I'll go and find a maul.

Tried mauling it Jon...hard as rock and with that branch collar no chance of splitting it by hand so will get the chainsaw on it and it will be ash by name...and ash by nature by the end of the day!:lol:

Got the fire ready for the moment me and Jon have been waiting for since he hand selected a log from his personal log supply for me and I have been saving it for this moment. Too large for my room I have prepared the living room fire for it...a bed of coal with some bone dry sycamore as a base.
