hi spud,

thanks ive got a ultrasonic cleaner for my diving regs,

what fluid do you use? degreaser ok? by the pump you mean the air pipe to the carb that operates the diaphram ?

I usually use turps substitute/white spirit in mine but make sure the fluid doesn't get too warm as it may ignite:thumbdown:

The accelerator pump is internal to the carb and can't be got to easily.

These MS200t,s are great saws which are spoiled by rubbish carbs. Stihl have a habit of using Zama carbs, made in China.

Oh, how I hate chinese (except Kung Po chicken). Give me a good Walbro any day.

Having said that, its not just that its cheap and chinese thats the problem, its that to keep up with emission regs all engines are being 'leaned' down, to a point where they dont work well. The lean carb on a 200 needs the accelelerator pump to give it a little extra fuel when it picks up. The trouble is that its all a little finicky.

The older 020 had a simpler, but not so enviro friendly carb which was more consistant and reliable ( still Zama though)

I often fit these to the 200t, it sorts them out a treat.

think i`ve sorted mine :001_smile:it was the manifold it had a big split at the rear

Quite a common problem on older machines, the saw will often run but will stall or bog if the top handle is moved about or the saw is revved up.

Saved a few bucks on a new carb - the rubber boot isn't that cheap though:thumbdown:

Glad it is fixed:thumbup:

If I may an explaination .Some of the Zama C-1Q carbs on the later Ms 200T's were a variation that had a shaft operated accelerater pump built into the carbs .Because of the way this actuated a small tiny piston pump over time the piston itself would leak air .

This caused untold amounts of problems world wide on saws with this specific type carb .Bear in mind not all 200's used this carb but a lot got blamed for it .

As I've stated numerious times on many forums it's my opinion that most issues of erratic operation on this series of saws is simpley bad crankcase seals .These seals are like none I've ever seen .They are not standard formed lip seals but straight seals the lip is formed as the sealing portion folds over as the seal is installed .The good news is they aren't very costly as one would suspect that being Stihl they usually are .About 8 bucks US funds at the dealer or about 1/2 that after market each .
