Advice for tree planting quotation ?

Instant garden and a cheap job= tell him you're too busy and he'll have to wait till November. That'll get him wanting you.

Instant garden looks good when its done, but in my experience even 6' standards will sit for a while, and generally grow more slowly. Putting in young trees is therefore my prefered option as they're cheaper, easier to plant (and replace if there's a problem) and catch up the standards quite quickly.

 

If you have to go for the larger trees compost is not a bad idea, I've done a few this way mixed in with the soil, I think it gives better aeration. I was always told to make sure and water them in well, particularly in dry weather, if you get a dry spell after they're planted make sure the owner knows to water them as well.

 

Its a few years since we did any, but I think the last time two of us did three trees in just over half a day, including cages. Don't take that as gospel though as I think its at least five years ago and the memory's not always that hot.

Hi guys

 

I have to price for getting and planting 4 silver birch. I know I will need a couple of bags of compost and 4 small stakes and binders. The trees are about 6 ft.

 

How much do you recon I should charge to plant them as it will be in the next town, 5 miles away.

 

Trees are about £20 on the net.

OK H i know what you are on about, they will have to be containerized this time of year possibly 15 to 20L pots or bigger for standards @ 6' lets say @ £30 per tree, compost £5 per tree, support £5 per tree, labor £20 per tree, delivery ? so all said about £240 to £300 for the job , is that what you were thinking? plus VAT.
