I've been playing about with the RADS system lately . Very simple to install , quick and easy to ascend , great fun descending on the gri gri . Can use the gri gri from the ground for aerial rescue also . As HA says there is a bit of flamphing around involved though . :001_smile:

Sorry what is RADS?

Its just an srt system of climbing where it is possible to ascend and descend with minimum of fuss and effort using the equipment HA has described . Check out the ' Victorian Tree Industry Organisation ' website and youtube for more detailed info . :001_smile:

i have this put better down somwhere, but quite easy:lol: if you can follow this;:blushing: you need a rope grab ond two small pullies (p05)

install rope(with or with FS) eye back down to chest height,

put rope grab on long side of rope.pointing up

clip the eye to the rope grab with a large oval binner,

pick up a good bight of rope below the rope grab, put in a pullie and then put into binner on the rope grab, aline eye and grab at the top off the binner and the pullie at the bottom

you now have three ropes below the rope grab and two above.

with the other pullie clip into loop and attach to hitch climber, tie hitch on as normal in the other leg

if you pull down on one leg, of the rope!, it will pull the rope grab up. 3:1 from the ground:001_tt2:

dont worry if you dont have enough rope to get to the grab to past the frist branch, just pull it up further when you half way up.
