Absolutely no different from building firms, window firms, decorators etc, who look through planning apps and then write to, or leaflet, the homeowner. It's just good business sense.

 

Not so IMO, WE normally make the application, not the homeowner.

 

I think going after work that others have gained content for is very,very low, IMO :thumbdown:

Yeah, spose. But a bit of time doing a TPO app is nothing compared with spending hours or days visiting a client, coming up with a garden design, pricing thousands of pounds of materials, sending quote off and then the homeowner getting someone else to do the work to your plan! THAT is proper low.

I agree, I now charge for the form filling on CA or TPO and I state that if I carry out the work it will be knocked off and if I don't do the work I have not wasted my time. This is because I once looked at a job, gave a quote, which they accepted then met tree officer, filled out the forms then got permission. The customer then cancelled me saying the car had broken and they needed the money to fix it, a few weeks later I went past and saw the work had been done.
