Ok little help here please. Found this fungi at the base of a horse chestnut. No leaf on crown and bark starting to peel off. Anyone know what's going on with the poor dead tree.

I'have seen that before, not sure what it is though. Its probably just feeding on dead wood, the tree being killed by something else. Honey fungus maybe, did you lift any bark?
