I tried it for a while, its very reliable but tbh its a bit too grippy. It would be a good choice for a beginner, and is better than a standard prusik but not as good as a Knut TK or the martin which is what I use.

thats pretty much what i figured. Cheers guys. Tied it on a bit of rope lying around the other day and it looked neat and compact and seemed to grip instantly but as you said it also seemed to stay fairly firm. Didnt know if it may be different in an actual climbing set-up.
