Is a prussik considered bad practise now then ?

Or is it just slow, old fashioned and knackering.

It depends, havent seen any research into it but if you think for a minute,

Using a prussik only utilises one side of your body and puts tremendous strain on the lower portion of said arm.

Other techniques such as hitch climber or SJ2, use a hand over hand motion to the center of the body. Which uses a bigger muscle group and balances out the forces throughout the body. Ergonomic working in a sense.....

Just in my opinion of course........

I agree it may be old slow and knackering but it is the only way for me!

A rope spliced at both ends and two pruzik loops will get you up any tree.

Sorry don't mean to turn the thread into a 'how good is the prussic loop thread' so getting back to the original question.

I think you're being a bit negative about this young lad and nit picking a bit Mr Blair.

Edward I like you're confidence, you certainly wont be out of work long with your enthusiasm and entrepreneurial skills and i think one day with more practice, experience and a good beating you may one day be a decent arborist. :001_tt2::lol:

the power lines where far far away, the picture makes them look close but collage would never let us so much a piss against a pylon let alone work over lines!

not at that moment but it was before cutting, and what do you mean by chokered off infront? it was realy a very simple branch walk their was never a point when i thought i might slip or that a second anchor point was needed, but hay your the pro and im the trainee this is all educational and helpful for me:thumbup: thats ok, i was cool before the job was:cool:

When I say chockered, I mean taking your side strop off and wrap it around the limb and back onto your centre.

I find this really good on limbs where you take the pressure off the strop it would want to drop down.

Thanks for answering about the pics, they can be deceptive, and you have held your ground on a little bit of questioning :)

Your posts have an energy about them, and I wish you all the best on the job front.

Your t shirt idea is great!

I think your biggest hurdle when you get a break is other members of staff being left behind by your enthusiasm and optimism.

Keep this thread updated and get some more pics up to be dissected lol:)

Edward, I may know a couple of different tree companies who would be willing to give you a trial, A little more local for you.

I will ask them tomorrow and maybe give you that option.

well you know Mr Blair the best way to dissect and judge my work would be by employing me :) its allot easier than making judgements over the small pictures!
