log splitter question.

Can't see why not, though losing the auto return might make it slower to use. If it's got auto return, it should have anti crush, which means it should be fairly straight forward to stop it mid stroke if that helped any?

 

Would need some more pics though.

 

I have taken all the mechanisms off and the valve block, I have put on a new valve block that is not auto return and it is brilliant, it splits knotty stuff no problem, I can stop the ram a couple of mm above the log then put in another log and away it goes. Whoever had it before me had butchered the mechanism and messed with the prv, it now is just how i want it. Thanks for all your help everyone.
