yeah its the root balls thats best for gun makers-and a few feet above ground, as the grain in the rootballs swirls about and looks pretty:001_tongue:

wish i had a walnut gun stock!

split woods about that down here too, but the couple of wood turners i know, i give wood to for a favour in return basis, including buttering up the girlfriends old man:001_smile:

 

i have a 22 air rifle with a walnut stalk. when my brother was training to be a keeper his mate got a bit of hash problem. and i bought the rifle off him. one of the guests on the estate offered this guy a tip after a days stalking, but he knew he was a gunmaker so he cheekily asked if he would make him a stalk for his air arms.

it was made to measure for the lad. beautiful.

i bought it when i was 14(19 y:001_smile:rs ago) for 120 quid, my dad went nuts.

but i still have it.one of my pride and joys.

Space is limited no no an axe is not for me not when a motor can knocks its socks off instead.

 

I was thinking while i got some time off to make them into mushrooms and stuff like that what do you guys think.

 

Sounds better than firewood, the trouble is Walnut does,nt like outdoors. It,s an interior wood.
