Felled a decent sized beech back in around 2009 due to meripilus.DSCF1810.jpg.ae2fa590e458a4e38b993eadc3ad3c82.jpg

We bought an alaskan mill from Rob D:thumbup: and got a good few decent planks and beams out of it.Most of them are still sitting there in the yard being threaten every now and then to be turned into something nice!:laugh1::blushing:

Anyway, one day moving them about a beam around 4" square fell to bits due to some rot, probably the only bit of artistic imagination I have ever had flared up.

So I made this pair of tea light holders.1.jpg.b88c7d8c69bca0a8fbc8a2221347acbd.jpg

It took quite a bit of sanding and varnishing.

I used le tonkinois varnish which worked well when I applied it properly!

They really need another fine sanding and a varnish.

thats a heck of a lot of sanding to get from that HUGE trunk down to 2 tea-light holders!

lovely end result tho

On the plus side I have 10 ton of sawdust so oil spills will never be a problem again!

Cheers lads and lasses :thumbup1: I was lucky to have such a nice bit of timber in the first place, all the effort and skill was already done for me.:001_smile::thumbup:
