tree sap on rope

Hi all, i recently took a job removing 6 overgrown leylandii, (one of my first as i'm new to tree work) i had to remove it in sections. while i was stropped on my prusik knot became stuck and for every decent i had to slacken it off. I soon found that my rope was soaked in resin, have i ruined it or is there any way of getting it cleaned?

Thanks in advance for any helpful tips on this,

john

Washing machine, soap flakes low temperature in a pillow case, dont use your own the missus or your mum wont be happy when the washing machine starts making funny noises.

Start using a ring and ring cambium saver it will make your ropes last alot longer. I have heard butter helps gets it off, but when your mates ask you what your getting up to buttering my rope might sound a bit odd.
