Quadchip mantanace?

Hi

 

im currentley in the market for a new chipper and split between timberwolf 150 and a quadchip 160.

 

i know timberwolfs inside out as ive been using them for the last 10 years, but im not 100% sure about greenmechs.

 

my main concerns are.

 

1, how easy are they to maintain greeaseing etc

2, how easy are they to change blades/rotate

3, can blades be sharpened at local machine shop like timberwolf blades or need sending away and if so how much does it cost?

4, how much does a new set of blades cost and how many sharpens can you get of a set?

 

if anyone could let me know any of these details that would be great:thumbup1:

i have 2 greenmechs one being a quadchip, great machine and twice the machine of a tw150, its on a turn tabel for a start!!!!

 

1 maintanance is easy enough, greasing is a 30 second job.

 

2blades are easy to rotate if a little fiddly, no worse than a tw150 though.

 

3 yes blades can be sharpened at locak shop no problem, you can also put greenmech round blades on, they last longer but need sending away.

 

4 dont know a cost of a new set of blades but the round ones are about 30 pounds and it takes 2 so not really a big deal, i will go onto round blades when my square ones are blunt as the round ones dont damage as much and are much quiter in use.

 

thw Tw150 imo is am out dated and very basic machine for not much less money than a fresh new design.

Im rather a fan of basic myself but the fact that you cant grease the bearings on a TW is a big let down, Never used a new greenmech but you can grease the bearings cant you?

yes all breaings are proper size and greasable not those little chocolate ones.

Hello,

Although I am hoping to buy a Quadchip shortly

(once I have my vat number grrrr!)

We have had a Timberwolf 150 out on a demo.

It was a 30min demo in fact, thats all you get here!

Anyway...I mentioned the non-greasable bearings and the rep showed me grease points.

Have Timberwolf changed the design of was the rep pulling my manhood...?

there not greasable on the main rotar and the ones they fit are made out of galaxy!

No, we have ours for 2 months now and im wondering how i managed with out it (i have a gm 220 but its a heavy old girl) the verticle rollers are good aswell, very little "whipping" when you put bent stuff in.

 

Its in a totally different class than a TW.

look at a jensen. I ve just got one from redwoods and am really pleased with twice the machine of my old 150.
