What is a topping down strop?

mine is a length of 13mm rope with a big dan carabina on the end. i use it instead of a block or pulley for rigging down light stuff.

A 19mm rope on a 21mm dead eye sling and a big isc pulley is a topping down strop!

in a tight spot rigging down smaller stuff, isnt that topping strop a little excessive?

Love the rigging, but what are you doing with that toy chainsaw? What you want there is a nice 044!

I think I was waiting for it, or an 066

Yes of course it is, but a 13mm is a bit too far the other way! I'm sure it could be useful, but I still think a 3.5 m length would be better used as a lanyard, and keep rigging gear seperate and made of stuff designed for purpose. A 13mm double braid rope would make a better topping down strop, and if used with an old climbing line it would make a good lighweight set up.
