Crank off or bottom bracket out?

Should always be able to get cranks off? Even if the threads are ripped for the removal tool, you could cut the spindle, but this would mean you have to replace bottom bracket aswell.

Send me a photo of where its threaded.

Its threaded where it goes into the frame. I suspect he just doesn't want to get involved because he's into flashy expensive bikes. He couldn't get it off. He's just tightened the bottom bracket and from the other side he could see inside and said it was a mess. :/

Think send it up exs dads and see his thoughts as he deals with old stuff.

Seen a carrera hybrid gryphon that looked good for the money. And a more touring kind of seating position which might be better as racing handlebars i am finding uncomfortable.

The bottom bracket screws into the frame (reverse thread on the driveside) so if the threads in the frame there are knacked then its a no go! But you could still put a new spindle and bearing in if one side can be removed.

But for a cheapo bike its maybe not worth it.

Yeah. He's shown me a pic he took. Its working and will last for now but not going to last long term. Have seen a brand new Giant rapide for £600 which i might go for for training. Will last me then. Use the other to do shuttle rides to gym from work (5miles) and sometime the 7 miles home. I wouldn't want to leave the new bike outside the gym.
